5 Great Reasons to Buy Handmade Jewelry

Blog Handmade Jewelry News Read

Hello!

That is a question I make myself very often.  Why should someone buy a piece of jewelry from me, when I am one more of the hundreds or thousands of designers -or sellers- around the world.  Why do I think handmade beats mass production?   I truly believe handmade jewelry is better to buy and wear. Why?  Come with me.

Exclusiveness:  There are famous and powerful jewelry brands in the world, and you can see how their product is purchased and worn by everybody.  Let's be real, how many pieces do you think those brands produce?  You are right, millions of the same bracelet, charm, necklace, etc. Did you know that Pandora mass-produces more than 1.5 million pieces a year? Where to find exclusiveness in that type of business?

Mass-production and repetitive designs are not the favorite way to go for  buyers who are increasingly seeking out rare and unique pieces from independent jewelers and designers.

The importance of individuality, of that woman who is looking to wear unique and one of a kind designs, who knows she is different and does not want to look like 1.5 million people around the world.  We make jewelry for that kind of extraordinary woman.  "The biggest distinction between mass-produced jewelry and the handmade jewelry process is the hands-on craftsmanship involved".

Quality: The personal attention and love that designers, makers and artisans infuse into our work is evident in each of the pieces that we create. No mass production processes are involved or necessary.  Personally,  I am  extremely proud of the work I produce and would never ever compromise my name by making bad quality jewelry.  From my studio, nothing goes out for sale if I am not 100% sure  it's  perfect as something  I would buy for myself, my daughter, my mom or for  my best friend.  It could be a piece that is not my personal style, but, to my eyes it has to be perfect to make me feel so confident that the buyer will not find or see, in terms of quality, something that I missed along the making process.

Made with care and love:  That phrase may sound a little bit cliché but it is so true.  As designers, we put all our love, dedication and attention to each and every piece we make for you, we pick up the perfect material:  stones, findings, colors, textures, etc, to make and materialize the idea that has been in our head for hours and even days, or months.  We are  inspired by everything around us: simple little things we enjoy everyday, that makes able to transmit good vibes within each piece we create.

Service & Personalization:   If I told you that I have repaired jewelry from Pandora, Tous, Alfredo  Martinez and more, the answer is always the same: "they said they can't repair it".  At Granate 27, we honor our customers by fixing and repairing every piece they buy from us whenever it is necessary.  If you need an specific color, size or jewelry design, feel free to contact us and we will do our best to help you out.

Sustainability:  Sustainability is very important to us as  designers and we make sure to use the finest semiprecious stones, metals and use also local surroundings as inspiration and materials.  Fast fashion is the second biggest polluter in the world, another reason to create QUALITY pieces that last for years and years.

When buying handmade  you are sure to get quality, core ethical values and sustainable jewelry. Instead of contributing to mass-produced jewelry which damages the environment, why not buy a unique handmade piece which won’t be worn by anyone else and is contributing to making a change.

So, beautiful women, the next time you consider purchasing a handmade piece of jewelry,  remember that even though the piece may be an investment, you are supporting something even bigger. You should feel really good about your purchase knowing that you have a special piece of the artist in your jewelry collection.

"Some say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but when gifts are made with love, support small scale business, focus on the triple bottom line, and create sustainable alternatives to big box options, that is truly beautiful."
